The Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance embodies a radical expansion of the idea of artistic education, and offers a redefinition of the term. Through its great independence and holistic approach, SEAD shapes the core of a globally connected center of excellence in dance located in Salzburg, Austria.

SEAD is a living collection of dance events, a continuum of movement that has woven itself into the rich fabric of Salzburg‘s cultural landscape. Founded in 1993 by the American dancer and choreographer Susan Quinn, the academy stands as a testament to time and forms a special archive of contemporary dance history. Within this book, readers will find a selection of images, accompanied by essays, poetry, art, and love letters from dancers, dance makers and dance scholars who have been part of SEAD‘s rich history.
