AI, AR, VR & Co: New distribution channels, projection possibilities and means of representation for contemporary dance theatre as a media art - Exploring existing technologies, taking them to their limits and examining their effects.
AI in the autopietic feedback loop of the performing arts.
[In search of the phygital experience in contemporary Dance theatre: live, immersive, participatory, in real space and proportionately digital.]
The aftermath of the pandemic is creating a digital
upsurge in many areas of life. In our (post-)pandemic world, by 2022 at the latest, even the last person will have arrived in the digital age, albeit perhaps involuntarily.
How can AI and virtual reality be made visible live in contemporary dance theatre? What can traditional dance theatre learn from VR, AR and AI and vice versa? What are the possible interfaces between audience and performers and what possibilities, achievements and abysses can technological progress produce in the autopietic feedback loop?
In addition to the innovative use of technologies by artists, theoretical and ethical aspects of research must be critically considered: What does AI mean in our lives? The way platforms extract data, concepts of machine vision and how they influence our own interaction with systems.
